North East Trip: Day 1

It's been about a week since I've been back, and I finally wanted to share some of the highlights of my trip to New York and Connecticut!

My Trichotillomania.

Trichotillomania or "Trich" is a form of OCD which causes a person to compulsively pull out hair. Commonly this refers to pulling out head hair, but it can be any body hair. For instance my compulsion results in me pulling out eyebrow hairs and eyelashes.

This is really difficult to talk about, I'm overcoming some serious self consciousness about it, so please be kind with your thoughts, words, and assumptions.

Anna's First Juice Cleanse

My mind, body, and soul needed a fresh start. I'm not going to tell you that vanity wasn't involved but  I was gaining weight at an unbelievable rate, so quickly that it CAN'T have been ok for my health. I've always been a curvy girl, always will be, at my healthiest I'd probably still sit around 165-175 lbs.
I try very very hard to love my body fully, and encourage everyone else to do so, but gosh, I have to admit it's a hard thing to do when it changes so quickly. Clothes weren't fitting, I was getting stretch marks, I was gaining 5 pounds on a bi-weekly basis....and all this was happening while I was eating better than I have been, getting daily exercise walking to and from my drawing class, and had recently joined the gym.
It just doesn't add up, and don't worry I'm talking to my doc asap. That being said, I figured a quick juice cleanse would kick my body into gear so it's working WITH me and not AGAINST me.

Photoshoot Roundup pt. 2

Many of y'all have heard of the fabulous Lauren Crow a la Tumblr. (This hottie moved to Portland so expect to hear a lot more about her when I'm back up there.) A few months ago she came up to Oregon to visit with a few different people and she graced me with her presence one afternoon/evening.
We got the chance to do a super romantic pink-tinted little shoot in my Von Follies lingerie and vintage peignoir robe, and I'm very excited to share the few shots from it!
Unfortunately there were a few technical difficulties, so some of the best ones didn't turn out usable, but I'm more than happy with these! You can find Lauren's photography blog here and website here

Photoshoot Roundup pt. 1

Since I really neglected my blog I didn't have the opportunity to share some of the super fabulous shoots that had happened between mid-summer last year and mid-summer this year.

New Year/New Blog/New Me

It's been almost exactly a year since my last post, it would have been last summer. Once I moved to Oregon I lost my motivation and time to post.
So much has happened...good and bad. I don't know where to start.
I moved to Portland in August (good), made amazing new friends (good), was away from home for the first time (good), and truly felt like I found a place for myself (best).
Now for the less than positive parts- me and that "southern boy who stole my heart" split up when I left (bad)...and a few months ago he passed away (worst). Not long after that I got very ill for two months, doing a number on my body and my already weakened emotions.
All of these things have had a major impact on me, as you can imagine. So here I am, back on my blog, if nothing else to keep a record of how things are.

Very soon I'll have more photoshoots and things to post. This is a nice way to keep my mind and hands occupied as I pass the summer (my first summer without Cason James since I was age sixteen).

Bear with me as I gear back up,
and thank you for reading.

xoxo Anna

A Tribute to the Lady, the Legend: Lauren Bacall

The past week has been difficult, two big losses hit the film community. Robin Williams' tragic death due to depression shocked the world, and just a day after, Hollywood lost a queen. Bacall's death hit me harder than Williams'. His was more tragic due to his age and circumstances, but I grew up more with Lauren Bacall.
While Robin Williams is like a family friend that you call your uncle, whom you love for his humor and kindness,  Lauren Bacall is like the glamourous grandmother you watch get ready and admire for her beauty, grace, and spirit.
